Center Pull Yarn Ball – Garnball mit Faden in der Mitte

As I said before, I mostly knit/crochet with the yarn end that sits in the skein to prevent the skein to roll all over.
Sometimes I must roll my yarn ball myself and I found that the tutorial on how to make my own center pull yarn ball is really a help.
It works great!

Wie ich schon früher gesagt habe, stricke/häkele ich meist mit dem Garnende, das im Knäuel sitzt, um zu verhindern, dass das Knäuel überall herumrollt.
Manchmal muss ich mir mein eigenes Garnknäuel machen und ich fand die Anleitung zum Wickeln eines Garnballs mit Faden in der Mitte eine echte Hilfe.
Es funktioniert prima!

Bath bombs – Bade Bomben

While surfing I found a tutorial on how to make bath bombs.
I’d never thought that you could make them yourself!
Next summer will be a good time for a try, when the weather is dry and hot.

Bei Surfen habe ich eine Anleitung für die Herstellung von Bade Bomben gefunden.
Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass man die selber machen kann!
Nächsten Sommer ist eine gute Zeit für einen Versuch, wenn es trocken und heiss ist.

I found a great tutorial for a beaded macramé bracelet with a very interesting closure technique.
I’m not sure if I am patient enough for this bracelet, but I know that I must try it as soon as I find the time!

Ich habe eine super Anleitung für ein Perlen-Macramé-Armband gefunden, das eine sehr interessante Verschluss-Technik hat.
Ich bin nicht sicher, dass ich geduldig genug dafür bin, aber ich muss es unbedingt ausprobieren, sobald ich die Zeit dafür finde!

Plaster Free-Form Sculpture – Gips Freeform Skulptur

A certain time I worked with plaster and I once even made a Freeform Sculpture. Unfortunately I didn’t take a photo from it, but gave it away immediately.
I found the work on the block of plaster very satisfying and want to do it once more.

Eine gewisse Zeit lang habe ich mit Gips gearbeitet und sogar einmal eine Freeform Skulptur gemacht. Unglücklicherweise habe ich sie nicht fotografiert, sondern sofort weggegeben.
Ich fand die Arbeit an dem Gips-Block befriedigend und möchte es gerne noch einmal machen.

Duct Tape Wallet – Gewebeband Portemonnaie

At craftster.org I found a tutorial on how to make a wallet from duct tape.
I never tried it, because I’m a little concerned about the duct tape: I’m mostly putting my wallet into the back pocket of my jeans. Won’t the glue of the duct tape kind of melt with the warmth?
I still must ask this question at craftster.org.

Bei craftster.org fand ich eine Anleitung für ein Portemonnaie aus Gewebeband.
Ich habe es noch nie probiert, weil ich wegen des Gewebebandes ein bisschen beunruhigt bin: Ich stecke mein Portemonnaie zumeist in die hintere Jeans-Tasche. ‘Schmilzt’ der Kleber des Gewebebandes nicht in der Wärme?
Ich muss diese Frage noch bei craftster.org stellen.

Once I saw the beautiful paper bead jewelry at newspaperjewelry.com and was stunned. Then I found a tutorial on how to make a paper bead bracelet at craftster.org with some really good ideas, e.g. to fix the paper beads with hair pins or to coat everything with modpodge.
Just another item on one of my to-do-lists ;-)

Ich habe einmal wunderbaren Papierperlen-Schmuck bei newspaperjewelry.com gesehen und war begeistert. Dann fand ich die Anleitung für ein Papierperlen Armband bei craftster.org mit ein paar richtig guten Ideen, z.B. die Papierperlen mit Haarklammern fest zu klemmen oder alles mit Modpodge zu überziehen.
Noch ein Eintrag auf einer meiner To-do-Listen ;-)

Mosaic from Plaster – Mosaik aus Gips

Once I wanted to play a little bit with mosaic for a door board (see photo) but without having to buy all those materials. I didn’t know if I would use them ever more.
Therefore I figured out how to make my own mosaic stones from plaster and wrote a German tutorial.
I’m giving here a translation, see some photos at the German tutorial.

How to make your own mosaic stones:
You need:

• Plaster
• (Rectangular) plastic lid
• Water
• Brush
• Paint as used in school
• Vinegar
• Finish

What to do:

1. Make plaster following the instructions and cast a thin layer. The consistency should be yoghurt-like and the layer not thicker than 3mm / 0.07 inches.
   Note: Use the plastic lid of a margarine jar for casting.
2. After hardening paint the plaster cakes with the paints.
   Note: The cakes must have become hard, but they don’t have to be dry when painting.
3. After the cakes are dry (about one day) coat with the finish.
4. Then break the cakes into mosaic stones.
   Note: This can be done in an irregular way, but you can also score the cakes and then break in square or rectangular pieces.
   Note: The scoring of the cakes can best be done when the cakes aren’t dry. Although you can score dry cakes they break more easily than the moist ones.
5. Now make your mosaic by casting a form with plaster and setting your mosaic stones into the plaster.
   Note: To delay the hardening mix the plaster with some vinegar.
   Note: Only cast plaster in flexible forms because it expands slightly and you won’t be able to release it from a solid form.

Ich wollte einmal ein bisschen mit Mosaik herumspielen, um ein Türschild (s. Foto) zu machen, aber ohne das ganze Material kaufen zu müssen. Ich wusste nicht, ob ich es jemals wieder verwende.
Darum habe ich mir überlegt, wie ich meine eigenen Mosaiksteine aus Gips herstellen kann und habe dazu eine deutsche Anleitung geschrieben.
